Power of Tina’s voice and story

-

■ I WAS saddened about the death of legendary singer and performer Tina Turner. The rock, soul and R&B diva had hits in the 1960s and 1970s with River Deep Mountain High and Nutbush City Limits with her husband Ike Turner.

After leaving her abusive marriage in 1976, she reinvented herself as a solo artist and launched one of the greatest comebacks in rock history with the help of friend David Bowie.

In the 1980s she enjoyed chart success with hits such as What’s Love Got To Do With It and We Don’t Need Another Hero, continuing into the 1990s with I Don’t Wanna Fight and Goldeneye.

Tina sold more than 200 million singles and albums in her stellar career. In the words of her famous song, she was simply the best!

■ What a sad loss to the world. Tina Turner’s personal story was as powerful as her voice after managing to leave violent husband Ike Turner to launch a successful solo career in her mid-40s, which was practically unheard of. She was a star in every sense of the word and, by all accounts, a very gracious and humble person who inspired many of her fellow performers, as well as a feature film What’s Love Got To Do With It and a West End musical. Tina’s life had its ups and downs but thankfully she found peace and happiness in the end with her second husband Erwin Bach.

■ It was with a heavy heart that I learned of the death of the queen of rock and roll, Tina Turner.

She cut an imposing and dynamic figure when on stage and, despite a difficult and turbulent early life, managed to overcome her struggles to become a sensation both on and off the stage.

Tina’s strength of character and professionalism won her millions of fans around the world. As many have rightly said, she was a force of nature and will be greatly missed.

■ Tina Turner was without doubt the queen of rock and roll. She ignited any stage she was on.

Her out-of-this-world dress sense and rhythmic movements were a sight to behold as she put 100% into every song. Music fans

around the world have lost one of their greatest icons and she will be dearly missed.

RIP, Tina, and thanks for the music and the memories.

■ How sad to read of the death of the queen of rock and roll, Tina Turner, at the age of 83.

She had her first UK hit in 1966 with Ike Turner and went on to have many more as a solo artist.

What great memories we have of this music icon whose legend and music will live on for ever.

■ Some people leave their mark on the world and teach us all something. That is exactly what Tina did and we are all the more blessed for sharing her incredible music and her amazing life story.

■ It’s very sad that Tina Turner has passed on. She was a great lady with a great voice, great legs and a true survivor.

She was a real inspiration, not only for women, but for everyone who has suffered abuse. Did we love her, my oh my?
