Star ‘furious’ about taunts over weight
SUPERFIT Davina McCall has slammed the internet trolls who taunted her about her weight.
The Masked Singer judge, 56, who regularly posts about exercising and health products, had posted an advert on social media and was shocked at the negative reaction.
She started to receive nasty messages saying she looked gaunt and ill and jokes about feeding her.
Davina is a strong advocate for body positivity, and admitted how unusual it was for her to feel so furious about the ordeal. She seethed: “I can’t really do much about my neck and my face unless I fill it with filler.”
Filming herself responding, she said: “I just thought I’d quickly do a post about the, I guess it is abuse that I’m getting about my weight. It’s really frustrating. I feel like people post these things and have no consequences.
“Because they can post whatever they like and be cruel and I just have to take it. And I’m actually just left sitting feeling furious. I’m a 5ft 6in woman who weighs 61 kilos. I don’t
diet, I exercise. I eat relatively healthily. And I enjoy sharing that journey.
“I’m 57 this year and I’m happy with the way that I look and I feel absolutely f***ing great. All you have to do is look at the rest of the posts on my page and see that I’m not unhealthy.
“This has been horrible. Maybe think before you post something and wouldn’t it be nicer to say something positive. And if you can’t say anything positive, don’t bother.”
She was offered support by celebrity pals including presenters Emma Willis, Kaye Adams and Gabby Logan, who said: “You look bloody gorgeous.”
Davina has previously told how exercise saved her in her 30s following drug and alcohol abuse, and she is at her fittest ever in her 50s.
Mum to Holly, 22, Tilly, 20, and Chester, 17, she also turned to exercise after splitting from their dad, her husband of 17 years, Matthew Robertson, 55, in 2017.
She is now in a relationship with hairdresser Michael Douglas, 50.
