LINDA Robson says she had to stop recording the audiobook of her autobiography as it made her cry.

The actor and Loose Women star, 66, admitted she struggled being reminded of some of her troubles.

She has battled alcoholism and depression during her six decades in the business but is now enjoying life.

Linda said: “The depression and the suicide watch I was on [and wrote about] was really hard, especially when I recorded the audio.

“I had to stop because I was crying my eyes out. They told me to go and sit down and have a nice cup of tea and then come back afterwards and I did.”

Linda also said how pleased she was to have gone four years without a drink.

She suffered some dark times in 2018 when she had a breakdown and needed to go to rehab. Her time in a clinic and regular sessions at Alcoholics Anonymous got her through.

She told Bella magazine she no longer goes to AA but is still in touch with former friends.

Linda said: “I met two people today who I went to AA with. I used to go there all the time, for a year.

“One of them is now 20 years’ sober, and he asked me how long I’ve been sober and I told him ‘It’s been four years since I’ve had a drink’. It was really nice to see him as well. They’re doing really well.” On staying off the booze, she added: “You have to keep yourself busy. If you’re sitting at home, which I was doing for two years, practically, and someone had to stay with me all the time. You have to find things to do.” Linda’s book reveals she became an actress aged 12 with childhood pal Pauline Quirke.

They found success with sitcom Birds of a Feather. Since 2012 she has been a Loose Women regular. The autobiography Truth Be Told came out in February and guests at the launch included her sitcom co-star Lesley Joseph, 78. On her book, Linda added: “There’s a lot about depression, but I wanted there to be lots of nice stuff also. I say that I am an ordinary woman but extraordinary things have happened to me.”
