Alex’s comeback as MPs are sworn in
Mhairi takes her revision to Commons
MP MHAIRI Black is finishing off her politics degree revision in appropriate surroundings – the House of Commons library.
The newly elected MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South has one final exam to sit before she graduates from Glasgow University.
And she admitted to Lorraine Kelly on television yesterday that she found her study location “bizarre”.
Black, who at 20 is Britain’s youngest MP since 1667, said: “I finally had time just to sit and be quiet in the library and I was going, ‘I’m studying for a politics exam in the Commons library.’ It’s nuts but it’s good.”
She added: “Things have almost been timed to perfection because I’ve got one exam left and then we can start throwing ourselves into it and start delivering things.” ALEX Salmond returned to Westminster yesterday to be sworn in as an MP.
The former First Minister and SNP leader quit the Commons in 2010 but was elected as MP for Gordon at the general election.
Salmond, who has retained his Holyrood seat as MSP for Aberdeenshire East, chatted with former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg as they waited in line to take the oath.
Former Labour leader Ed Miliband also took the oath and appeared to skip the queue to engage Clegg in conversation as they joined the backbench ranks.
