We’ve spent the night together but is he using me?

-

Dear Coleen,

I’M in love with my brother’s best friend.

I have practically grown up with him and have fancied him for as long as I can remember.

We have shared the odd kiss here and there, and have spent the night together a couple of times, but it doesn’t seem to be going any further.

I’m too scared to tell him how I feel, as I suspect he is using me. I have never felt like this about anyone else. Please help.

Coleen says

WELL, he’s either using you or he’s also too frightened to tell you how he feels.

It’s a tricky situation because if you do start something serious and it goes pear-shaped, that could ruin the friendship between him and your brother, so maybe all that is going through his head as well.

But if you’re old enough to be sleeping with him, then you should be mature enough to ask him what’s happening with the relationship between you.

He might say: “It’s not a relationship, it’s just a bit of fun,” but you need to have that conversation to know where you stand.

If that is his answer, then it’ll come down to whether or not you’re happy for that arrangement to continue or you decide you want to move on.

If you have a problem, write to: Dear Coleen, Daily Record, One Central Quay, Glasgow G3 8DA or email dearcoleen@dailyrecord.co.uk. I cannot reply personally.
