We need support to help us fight back
ALAN STUBBS has issued a rallying cry to the Hibs fans ahead of tomorrow’s crucial play-off clash with Rangers.
The Easter Road side are staring at the prospect of a second successive season in the Championship after the 2-0 defeat in Wednesday’s semi-final first leg at Ibrox.
Stubbs admits his side face an uphill struggle and has called on the supporters to make sure Stuart McCall’s side don’t feel welcome this weekend.
Hibs are hoping for a bigger than usual home crowd and have reduced Rangers’ traditional 3800 away allocation to 1500 to make room for more of their fans in the south stand.
Stubbs said: “It’s important now we try to make Easter Road as intimidating as possible.
“We really have to make the place rock, get right behind the team – the fans are the 12th man and I’m sure they will be.
“They’ve been great all season so I don’t see this being any different.
“We have a hill to climb so must make sure we put on our hiking boots and we’re prepared to climb that hill.
“We’ll do whatever we have to do to get the result – it’s as simple as that.
“The players believe, they really do. They can take heart from the way they performed at Ibrox and on another night it could easily have been a completely different result.”
