Chilling plan of pervert with hoard of 3000 vile images
A PAEDOPHILE caught with images of three-year-olds being raped applied to do a childcare course at college.
Douglas Gallacher, 28, also told a neighbour he wanted to get involved in fostering.
Gallacher hoarded almost 3000 pictures and videos of child sex abuse. Experts said more than 400 were in the worst category, with some showing the rape of children as young as three.
He shared the images online with other perverts. He pled guilty last week and is on bail awaiting sentence in September.
A neighbour told our sister title the Paisley Daily Express: “Douglas told me he wanted to get on a childcare course and to be involved in fostering.
“I didn’t think much of it at the time. But when what he’d been up to came out in court, it made my blood run cold.”
At the Paisley home he shares with his mum and granny, Gallacher claimed he applied to West College Scotland in the town “a couple of years ago”.
But the college confirmed: “Douglas Gallacher applied to study childcare services in 2015. He failed to gain a place on any of our courses.”
Gallacher didn’t want to answer questions about his interest in children. He hid behind a grey-haired woman, who shouted “P**s off !” and slammed the door.
Police acting on a tip-off from child protection specialists raided Gallacher’s home last November and found child porn on two external hard disks and a laptop in his bedroom.
The loner told them he was against child abuse and added: “I’m the one most at risk from downloading stuff like this because I download movies and I don’t know what else is coming with it.”
Paisley sheriff Seith Ireland gave Gallacher bail with special conditions, put him on the sex offenders register for five years and warned he could be jailed.
