Richie is sad Caley found Wes at best

-

RICHIE FORAN blamed Wes Foderingham for wrecking Christmas in the Highlands but he insists things will be looking up for the Caley Jags in the new year.

The Inverness boss claimed the Gers keeper had the game of his life to deny his side a point at Ibrox on Saturday.

The 1-0 defeat left Foran’s men bottom of the league but the Irishman is adamant his side will haul themselves out of trouble.

He said: “It’s not ideal, we’re halfway through the term but as long as we’re not bottom at the end of the season.

“If we perform like that we’ll be in the top six. Our aim is top six and two wins in the next two games probably puts us in there. I wouldn’t worry about being bottom just now.

“You’re looking for that bit of luck, the one that will drop for a tap-in or a scramble over the line.

“But we work tirelessly on finishing with the strikers, we can’t do any more. We’re looking for that little bit of composure as to dominate the game and not come away with anything is a hard one to take.”

Foran admitted Foderingham’s star turn was a heartbreaker.

He said: “It hurt us for a couple of hours, I’ve told the players on the way up I want to see them smiling, laughing and walking off the bus with their chests out and go to their families and enjoy their Christmas.

“We were hurting but bring on Motherwell on Wednesday.

“It was all down to us, how we controlled the game.

“We absolutely dominated the first half, were great in possession and cut them open on numerous occasions.

“We looked solid at the back and you can’t ask for much more than that.

“We were just lacking that wee bit of magic and unfortunately we were up against a keeper who was in unbelievable form and was probably the man of the match.

“It’s soul destroying how we didn’t come away with a point.

“I’ve never been involved with a team over the last eight years, even at Motherwell, where we’ve come to the Old Firm and played so well. It wasn’t our day in terms of goalscoring.

“It was a quiet dressing room, it was a deflating result. But I was proud of the lads, how they performed. I wish the Motherwell game was tomorrow and so do the players.”
