DOCUMENTARY
Channel 4, 8pm CHRISTMAS wouldn’t be Christmas without snow – even if you have to go to Canada to find it.
And that’s exactly what dashing architect George Clarke and his master craftsman mate Will Hardie have done for this picture-perfect special.
Declaring they are on a “snowcovered design odyssey”, they head across the mountain ranges of western Canada looking for more fascinating spaces.
The pair find snow-proof structures which protect from blizzards and storms. They investigate a remote buffalo herder’s lodge, the ultimate stateof-the-art snowboarder ski chalet and even a monster snowmobile that’s like a caravan – it’s big enough to live inside.
So if the driver were to get stranded in a storm, he can easily hop in the back and make himself a cuppa.
George and Will even find time to take on their own snow-inspired build. Their Amazing Spaces custom designed igloo demonstrates just how warm snow can keep you.
It’s a fascinating showcase of ingenious builds made to survive and make the most of the stunning surroundings.
BBC2, 10pm THE Devil of Christmas rears its ugly head in this brilliantly twisted special edition of Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s black comedy.
Julian (Pemberton), his pregnant wife Kathy (Jessica Raine), their son Toby (George Bedford) and Julian’s mother Celia (Rula Lenska) all arrive at an Austrian alpine lodge in December 1977.
And soon Shearsmith’s caretaker Klaus tells the family about the local legend of Krampus, the Devil of Christmas. While all the good children get presents from St Nicholas, the bad
