Mystery as worker is found dead in House of Fraser store

STAFF at House of Fraser in Edinburgh were shocked yesterday after a colleague was found dead in the store.

A workmate found the 30-year-old man’s body at 9.15am. Bosses closed the store in Princes Street.

A House of Fraser spokesman said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of one of our employees at our Frasers store in Edinburgh.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. The cause of death is still being investigated and we are fully supporting the police with their investigations.

“Frasers Edinburgh will remain closed today out of respect for the individual and our staff. We will offer full support to our employees over the coming days and weeks.”

Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and the man’s family had been told. Inquiries were continuing but the tragedy was not thought to be suspicious.

The store is due to reopen today.
