Gascoigne injured in bar brawl

-

PAUL Gascoigne was hospitalised last night after a drunken bust-up at a London hotel.

The 49-year-old former Rangers and England star was taken to an east London hospital for treatment to a head wound.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance at the Ace Hotel in trendy Shoreditch at about 6pm.

Eyewitness Alvin Carpio tweeted: “I’m in the Ace Hotel trying to read but can’t because Paul Gascoigne is behind me causing trouble.”

He later alleged: “It gets crazier – Gazza has just been kicked down the stairs by a guy whose friend got slapped by him. He really isn’t in a good place.

“He’s been spitting, making racist remarks and groping women, all the while throwing around pound notes and stating his dad has cancer.”

Gascoigne’s spokesman Terry Baker said the football star had been in Newcastle over Christmas and had been due to travel to Bournemouth yesterday.

Baker later confirmed Gascoigne had “been taken to hospital because he has a head wound”.

He added: “He hasn’t been arrested. He’s about to be released and sent home.”
