Finnerty: It’ll be hard to hit Giants’ heights

-

RYAN FINNERTY reckons Belfast Giants will take some stopping in ice hockey’s Elite League after they thrashed Braehead 5-1.

Finnerty admits his team were blown away by the Northern Irish side – who are battling Cardiff Devils for the title.

He said: “They’re a great hockey team – probably one of the best we have seen come through here. They are talented but it was disappointing for us. You need to be very good to beat that team, they have incredible talent in depth.”

Finnerty knew Monday night’s game was dead once Giants hit their fourth so he took the chance to get some of his youngsters on the ice.

He added: “We have a lot of games so I gave some of the kids a chance. Giants then scored another and I don’t think the scoreline really reflected the game.”
