Foran fears Tansey’s time at Inverness will be
RICHIE FORAN last night admitted midfield mainstay Greg Tansey is set to leave Inverness at the end of the season after snubbing a new deal.
And that is bound to spark a chase for the influential playmaker who was controversially denied a move to Aberdeen last January.
The Dons thought they had activated a release clause in Tansey’s contract by tabling an undisclosed bid.
But the move fell through after Caley Thistle refused to accept the offer before the transfer window closed.
Tansey returned to duty without any dip in performances and retained his place in the Inverness team.
But he has now confirmed he will not be signing a new contract and will be free to discuss terms with interested clubs next month.
However, it’s understood that the Pittodrie club won’t be going back in for him as they now plan to strengthen in other areas.
While Foran is disappointed about Tansey knocking back a new deal he has no qualms about keeping him at the heart of his plans until May.
And he’s still clinging to the faint hope the Englishman might change his mind before the end of the season.
The Caley Thistle boss said: “Greg is not going to sign a contract extension at the moment. That’s a little bit disappointing. I had a long chat with him and said I once made the mistake of leaving a club, Motherwell, where I was really enjoying my football.
“If I had the chance to change it I wouldn’t have left but he’s not willing to sign at the moment.
“I would say it’s probably 80 per cent certain he will leave at the end of the season. We still have hope.
“You never know what can happen
