The Caley Thistle boss is more optimistic about persuading Josh Meekings to sign a new deal.

The 24-year-old has amassed great experience in five-and-a-half years with Inverness since venturing north from Ipswich under Terry Butcher.

Like Tansey, he is sure to be a player coveted by other clubs in January but Foran hopes the defender will stay.

He said: “Josh needs a couple of more weeks to think about it. He will get a break with everyone else in January and he can clear his head.

“We will have an answer from Josh come January 12. I’m not worried about either of the players. Greg’s not a guy who will protect himself for his move next year.

“He trains the way he plays. He’s a fantastic player. I’ll stick by him and I am sure our supporters will.

“With Josh, it’s the same. He loves his football here. Both players love the town but we all move on at times – players, coaches, myself or directors.

“Finding replacemen­ts is the hard part. We will see what happens.”
