TNS TARGET KILBY RUN

-

EAST KILBRIDE’S world record of 30 consecutive wins looks set to last less than two months after Welsh champions The New Saints closed in on their achievement.

The Lowland League winners grabbed headlines after winning 27 games in a row by defeating BSC Glasgow in November and surpassing Ajax’s record.

The Dutch giants even delivered 27 crates of beer to help them celebrate before Kilby eventually lost to Spartans. But allconquering Welsh side TNS – in the Irn-Bru Cup semi-finals against St Mirren in February – will make it 27 in a row this week if they defeat Cefn Druids and may pass the Scottish side’s run soon anyway.

TNS are claiming a world first because Kilby don’t play in the senior leagues and boss Craig Harrison said: “We are desperate to break the record and go down in history.”
