Wanyama faces a hot reception at St Mary’s

VICTOR WANYAMA has been told to brace himself for a rough ride on his first return to Southampton since leaving for Tottenham in the summer.

Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino knows all about the Saints fans’ anger, having been on the receiving end of it himself after treading the same path.

Asked whether former Celt Wanyama would be strong enough to handle it, Pochettino said: “We’ll see, it was hard for me. It’s normal for some fans to hate me but that doesn’t change my respect for the club and the people I worked with there.”

Fifth-placed Spurs go to St Mary’s hunting the three points that will lift them back to within a point of the top four.

But Saints have lost just once in their last six league games, winning three and drawing two.
