A YELLOW cost Erik Sviatchenko his place in the Celtic team but he didn’t see red over his recent spell on the bench.
The Dane admitted a run as a substitute gave him a different perspective on the game but now he wants a close-up view of all the action again.
Sviatchenko picked up a booking in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final penalty shootout defeat against Rangers at Hampden.
The 25-year-old centre-half scored in the game but his caution for a foul on Dean Shiels saw him miss the start of Celtic’s run in this season’s competition.
Dedryck Boyata was brought in from the cold for the fourth-round clash with Albion Rovers and the Belgian hasn’t looked back.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has opted for Boyata and Jozo Simunovic as his main central defensive pairing so far this year.
But injury ruled out Simunovic at the weekend and Sviatchenko earned praise for his display in

keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Hamilton.
And ahead of tonight’s trip to Inverness the 25-year-old hopes to keep his place as he looks to establish himself again at the heart of Celtic’s rearguard.
On finding himself out of the side, Sviatchenko said: “I hadn’t done anything wrong but there was a suspension held over from last season that we weren’t aware of.
“It was a booking from the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers – the game I scored in. But competition is a natural thing when you are a professional and sometimes it’s good to come out of the team and think about how you play and why you play.
“Hopefully, though, I’ll be in the team from now on because it’s best for my development to play regularly. I wasn’t worried because I believe in my qualities.
