Dealer caught running heroin for the boss he saw shot dead
A DRUG dealer traumatised by gangster Euan Johnston’s murder was yesterday jailed for playing a key part in his £600,000 heroin trade.
Ex-squaddie Brian McMahon – who was with Johnston when a gunman assassinated him – was sentenced to three years and three months.
The 30-year-old’s DNA was found on a bag containing heroin worth at least £17,600, which police recovered from the boot of a car they stopped in Possil, Glasgow, on March 5, 2014.
Co-accused Gary Bradburn, 39, was sentenced to five years and three months for running a drugs factory in his home in Glasgow’s Keppochhill Road. Police found a cutting agent and a hydraulic press used for bulking out and packaging drugs as well as a bag of 45 per cent pure heroin.
More heroin with a purity of 49 per cent and an estimated street value of £640,000 was discovered in an ASDA carrier bag.
McMahon and Bradburn admitted heroin dealing but their co-accused Johnston died before he could go on trial, the High Court at Livingston heard.
Johnston was shot in his Audi in Kinning Park, Glasgow, last November.
Judge Lord Clark told McMahon his role had been more limited than that of his co-accused.
But he said that, given the effect heroin had on society, a custodial sentence was “inevitable”.
