BELLEW TO WIN IT BY K-HAYE-O

- DAVID ANDERSON sport@dailyrecord.co.uk

DERECK CHISORA is backing Tony Bellew to stun the boxing world by knocking out his nemesis David Haye.

Bellew faces Haye on Saturday at London’s O2 in the biggest domestic grudge match since Chisora’s infamous showdown with the Hayemaker in 2012.

Chisora has been sparring with Bellew and says the WBC cruiserweight champ can stop Haye late in the fight.

He said: “David is a great athlete, he’s been at the top, but in his last comeback fights he hasn’t boxed anyone who’s been a real threat to him.

“Tony is definitely geared up for it. He’s very good, he hits very hard.

“I was physically all over him in sparring, trying to move him around but he’s got the power. He hasn’t put weight on but has more power at heavyweight.

“I see the fight going with Tony. He needs to take Haye into the later rounds and tire him out. If he does that I think he will knock Haye out.”

Chisora, who wants a rematch with Dillian Whyte after their classic in December, laughed off Haye’s claims he will “cave Bellew’s skull in”.

He insists the former WBA heavyweight champ isn’t a big hitter for all his bravado.

He said: “Haye doesn’t hit that hard. He has a great jab but it’s not powerful enough to discourage any opponent.

“It’s the surprise of the punch with his speed. Your brain has not registered the shot so that’s why people get knocked out.”

Chisora made up with Haye after being stopped in their scrap at Upton Park five years ago but isn’t sure his mutual hatred with Bellew will end on Saturday.

He said: “Yeah it does remind me of the build-up to my fight with Haye.

“Fighters will always hate each other before they fight, especially heavyweights.

“There have been some hurtful things said in the press conferences with these two. It will be interesting to see what happens afterwards.”

Saturday’s fight is on despite Haye hurting his Achilles in training. He visited his specialist Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt in Munich on Tuesday and his camp insist he will be fully fit.
