That’s out of order, Rod

Singer mimics Jihadi John Isis execution on trip to desert

A BIZARRE video appearing to show Sir Rod Stewart staging an Isis-style mock execution in the desert was posted online by his wife yesterday.

The rocker – who was in Abu Dhabi with model wife Penny Lancaster for a concert last night – can be seen playing in the sand dunes before coaxing a friend to kneel, holding his hair and making a cutting motion across his throat.

The clip, posted to Penny’s 28,000 Instagram fans yesterday, was captioned “Rod Stewart (leader) band doing a ‘Beatles’ sand dune crossing.”

After Penny, 45, rolls down the sand, her 72-year-old husband, in shades and a white shirt, can be seen making the gesture at the top of the dune.

Celtic fan Rod is known for his wacky sense of humour and had fans in stitches with his Scottish Cup draw antics in January.

But his latest apparent stunt is likely to enrage many. Videos of desert executions carried out by Isis militants have appeared online in recent years, including the deaths of aid workers David Haines, 44, from Perth, and Alan Henning, 47, from Salford, in 2014.

Their executioner, later identified as a British militant known as Jihadi John, is understood to have died in a drone strike in November 2015.

The video of Sir Rod was posted along with a string of photos of the couple enjoying their Middle Eastern break in the lead up to his performance at the Du Arena last night.

One picture showed Penny and Rod relaxing on a dune in matching white shirts with the caption “sandy afternoons”.

The mum also shared snaps of them enjoying a tour of a mosque and her husband being given a “Celtic” henna tattoo on his arm as they took some time out ahead of the gig. The Maggie May singer has been performing a string of international dates and has more shows lined up in Las Vegas, Mexico and Florida.

Last weekend, Penny posted several Instagram shots of the couple travelling to his O2 gig by tube.

Rod’s TV antics during the Scottish Cup fifth round draw went viral in January when he snubbed a handshake from SFA president Alan McRae and helped draw the teams using over-thetop hand gestures.

The superstar had seemingly been making the most of match hospitality during Celtic’s game against Albion Rovers before the draw.

Rod even gave an audible groan when his beloved Hoops were drawn against Inverness Caley Thistle.

Sir Rod’s management were unable to comment last night.
