Craigen’s regret over Bairns missed chance

-

LOUIS LAING is on a mission to beat old club Motherwell in the drop battle and branded the Steelmen’s form as diabolical.

The Inverness stopper was released by the Fir Park side in January after spending the first half of the season on loan at Notts County.

He considered giving up football after a spell out at Motherwell and the Englishman moved to the Highlands last month. The 23-year-old is in a fight with Well who axed Mark McGhee after a four-game losing streak.

They are still two points ahead of basement side Caley with a game in hand but Laing is convinced there is more talent in Richie Foran’s squad and hopes to prove it.

He said: “Motherwell’s past results have been pretty diabolical. They are conceding a lot of goals so something has got to change. It would be nice for me to finish above them and we believe we can get out of it.

“Is there more quality here than at Motherwell? They have some good players like Scott McDonald and Louis Moult but as a squad I’d probably say Inverness tops it at the minute.

“We have a great group of lads, we believe in ourselves and I’m surprised we are bottom of the league.” JAMES CRAIGEN admits Falkirk have been left kicking themselves after watching Hibs and Dundee United slip up at the top of the table.

The Bairns lie third and desperate to make the Championship play-offs.

Falkirk could have gained ground on all of their topfour rivals if they hadn’t been held 2-2 by Dumbarton.

Boss Peter Houston is hoping to make amends at QoS tomorrow and Craigen said: “We were disappointed to drop two points at home.

“Whether you’re playing Dundee United or Ayr or Dumbarton we want to be winning those games.

“It was a good thing results went for us at the weekend but it’s frustrating we didn’t capitalising on that.

“Everything’s quite tight, especially second, third and fourth, and I think it will go right down to the wire. It’s up to who wants it most.”
