Gaffer’s time will end on a high

- MICHAEL GANNON

TEXAS Ranger Emerson Hyndman is determined to send Graeme Murty off into the sunset as a winner.

The American grabbed a stunning stoppage-time winner against St Johnstone on Wednesday to hand the stand-in boss his first Premiership victory.

Murty is preparing to step aside for the new management team but Hyndman was thrilled to repay the interim manager’s hard graft and faith in them during this period in limbo.

He said: “It’s never easy when a manager leaves but the group’s backed Graeme well since he came in.

“He’s done himself justice as well since he’s come in, getting behind us and really letting us know what he wants us to do. It was just nice to repay him.

“He’s been brilliant. It’s always a tough position as a kind of interim manager. Especially with the way things have gone.

“The results haven’t shown how good he is or reflected what he is doing but it’ll be nice to give him that feeling.”

Midfielder Hyndman admitted it’s been a struggle at Ibrox since his arrival on loan from Bournemouth.

But he’s relishing the experience and has won over the fans with his displays despite the dodgy results.

Hyndman has grabbed three goals in his short spell in Scotland and is hoping to play a part in a strong finish to the campaign.

He said: “When you come to a new club you want to make a good impression.

“I’ve had the support of everyone here and I just hope the results come.

“We analyse and work in training to make sure we’re ready going into the next games. It’s just about keeping the mentality right.”
