Gaz can’t wait for loss of Power

-

GARY ANDERSON admits he can’t wait until “pain in the backside” Phil Taylor retires after letting him off the hook in last night’s Premier League cracker.

The Scottish star spurned a golden opportunity to end The Power’s unbeaten record in this year’s event and had to settle for a 6-6 draw.

World No.2 Anderson hit eight maximums and averaged more than 105 but missed four darts to go 6-3 up and another chance at tops to win the game by a 7-4 scoreline.

Taylor won the last two legs to stay in the top four as the Scot failed to leapfrog his opponent in the play-off slots ahead of next week’s Glasgow Hydro showpiece.

Ando said: “I’m gutted. This is what he does to you if you pass up chances against him.

“I cannot wait until he retires! Will I miss him when he gives up? Not a chance. He’s a pain in the backside!”

Dave Chisnall thumped Raymond van Barneveld 7-2 with a ton-plus average in the opening contest of the evening, while bottom duo Jelle Klaasen and Kim Huybrechts fought out a 6-6 draw.

Peter Wright came within a whisker of breaking Michael van Gerwen’s record TV average in his 7-2 thrashing of Adrian Lewis.

Snakebite was on 121 going into the final leg but had to settle for mind-blowing figures of more than 119. Chisnall, who played twice to replace injured MVG, returned to beat Wade. BOXING: Craig Kelly will tuck into a pre-fight fry-up but insists he won’t make a meal out of Sam Ball.

The welterweight wants to reclaim the Scottish title he won in 2014 but has his work cut out against the unbeaten Greenock ace at the Lagoon Centre in Paisley tonight.

Hometown boy Kelly said: “I’m looking forward to a nice fry-up in the morning and then a sizzling fight tomorrow night.

“It will be tough but there’s only one winner and that’s me.” BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks have the chance to go joint second with Newcastle Eagles in the BBL table with a win over the Tyneside outfit tonight.
