A TEENAGER locked up for stabbing a youth is the brother of two thugs put behind bars for race hate crimes.

Billy Reid, 18, was given three years and two months this week after admitting a knife attack on a 16-year-old boy in Edinburgh.

The Record can reveal today that his twisted siblings were behind separate racist assaults which left one man dead and nearly killed another.

Older brother John, now 22, was locked up for killing Chinese takeaway driver Simon San with a single punch in the city’s Lochend area in 2010.

And in 2015, Gary Reid, 21, was sentenced to seven years for an attempted murder with chilling echoes of Simon’s death. He slashed the neck of Chinese takeaway owner Jie Yu, who was lucky to survive.

Now Billy Reid is behind bars after admitting a blade attack.

Residents in the Pilton area, where the Reids lived, yesterday spoke of their relief that another brother is off the streets.

One neighbour said: “They’re a family from hell. The brothers have ran riot for years.

“It’s terrible to say, but it’s fortunate only one person has died at their hands. The best place for them is prison.”

Billy Reid was locked up on Monday after admitting assault to severe injury.

The High Court in Paisley was told his victim suffered a serious stab wound to the torso.

John Reid was only 16 when he killed Simon, 40, outside his family’s takeaway.

He was convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years behind bars.

He was freed in 2013 but returned to jail in 2014 for breaking parole conditions, then jailed again for burglary last June.

Brother Gary and an accomplice stabbed Jie as he tried to stop them stealing his car. Jie will be scarred for life, his trial was told.
