WELL TALK GOOD GAME

-

RICHARD TAIT revealed it has been a week of home truths at Fir Park.

Now Tait admits the talking has to stop and it’s time for Motherwell to start delivering home and away Premiership wins.

The 27-year-old defender insists the players were all sad and sorry to see Mark McGhee leave Motherwell after being fired on Tuesday.

The Galashiels-born fullback believes that after days of soul-searching Well need to get their groove on again starting against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park today.

Tait said: “We had a meeting between ourselves and spoke about what we need to do as players.

“We demanded more from one another and that’s all that it was really about.

“We’re in it together and everyone knows that they’ve got to step up, as individuals that will help the team.

“That’s what these things are for and a lot of home truths were spoken.

“This week’s been geared towards Kilmarnock and that’s all we’ve been talking about. It was sad to see Mark go as all the lads really like him but that’s football.

“Mark came in and wished us all the best and told us to crack on. We’ve got to move on quickly and get on with the job.

“We let the gaffer down and he paid the price for it.”

Stephen Robinson has been put in caretaker charge and Tait admits that he would not be adverse to the former No.2 taking over on a more permanent basis.

He said: “The spirit’s good. Robbo’s been brilliant this week. He’s done a lot of work on the training pitch.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if his name in the hat.”
