Maguire digs in to rock on in Gibraltar

STEPHEN MAGUIRE battled into to the second round of the Gibraltar Open but rising stars Scott Donaldson and Ross Muir both crashed out.

The Milton potter was one frame from defeat against Irish amateur Gerard Greene, but drew level and took the deciding frame with a 62 break to win 4-3.

Perth kid Donaldson went down 4-1 to Leicester’s Tom Ford while Muir fared even worse, losing 4-0 to Ulster’s Mark Allen, who completed the whitewash with breaks of 138 and 85.
