Swinson: Our Pro12 number is not yet up

-

WARRIORS...47 DRAGONS ..... 17

TIM SWINSON insists the Warriors won’t become obsessed with points in their bid to squeeze into the Pro12 title play-offs.

The Scotland lineout specialist played a big part in Glasgow’s romp over the Dragons at Scotstoun.

And he stressed there will be no number-crunching in the camp in the final few weeks of the regular season.

Swinson said: “We’ve given ourselves a bit of a chance after a few losses on the trot.

“But there’s no discussion in the dressing room about the facts and figures we need to achieve to get into that top four.

“Our talents are much more suited to rugby than mathematics.

“All we can and will do is concentrate on winning the rest of our matches. If we manage that then we will be in with a shout. Simple.”

Swinson was backed up by coach Gregor Townsend who watched his side surge back in the wake of surrendering 10 early points.

He said: “We have not set ourselves any kind of points target. We just need to keep up the momentum.

“A lot will depend on the fortunes of other teams in contention. Some of them are due to face one another so points will be dropped one way or another.”

Centre Nick Grigg bagged a quickfire try double to get Glasgow into their stride following the horror start.

It was one-way traffic in favour of the Warriors after the restart.

Birthday boy Rory Hughes, 24, pounced for No.3 before Ratu Tagive, Lee Jones, Mark Bennett and Peter Horne rounded off the rout.

However, the success came at a cost after Richie Vernon was carted off with a serious looking achilles tendon injury, while Hughes sustained leg damage.
