CHRIS CADDEN admits there is nowhere to hide in the Lanarkshire derby but he might need to if Motherwell don’t come out on top.

The Fir Park ace is determined to bag three points against arch rivals Hamilton tonight as it will mean he’s safe to hit the shops for the rest of the week.

Local lad Cadden, 20, knows there is much more than bragging rights at stake with both clubs in a relegation dogfight and he is hoping he can get trollied afterwards.

He said: “We have players in there who can handle themselves. There’s tough guys with a lot of experience so we can deal with anything Accies throw at us.

“You can’t be shy in derby matches. I’m a local boy so I know as much as anyone what it’s all about.

“Everyone is talking about it as a must win. I’m not sure, there are a lot of big games from now until the end of the season.

“But every derby game is a must win. Imagine going around the Motherwell Asda if you get beat by them. I’d need to send my mum for my shopping for the week!

“The local boys will let the English lads know what it’s all about. You get a sense of it in the streets and on social media. The fans let you know how important it is. Even if it wasn’t a massive game in terms of the table the derby would still be huge to them.

“It’s one we want to win regardless of the situation but obviously there is so much at stake this time. We just want to get three points and if we show the same desire and application as we did on Saturday there is every chance we will.”

Well are just one point above second-bottom Accies in the relegation play-off spot and Cadden WELL’S scorer Louis Moult is an injury doubt after he suffered an ankle knock in Saturday’s draw at Rangers.

Well hope Richard Tait can return after groin surgery but Jacob Blyth has a “niggle” that may rule him out. Defender Stephen McManus is out to take a huge step towards safety. He said: “It’s a massive week for us. We know it and we’re not shying away from it. Everyone is buzzing and can’t wait to get out there as the fans will be right behind us.

“The gaffer will look at the Accies games this season and he’ll have us ready for whatever they throw at us. They should be looking more at us though because we’re the home side.

“We were 3-0 up early on earlier in the season and it would be magic if that happened again. There’s a lot of quality up front with Scott McDonald and Louis Moult so we know we can score goals.”

Cadden insisted the Fir Park squad are bouncing after the draw with Rangers and he’s looking to stay on the (groin) remains sidelined. Accies defender Grant Gillespie will miss out with an ankle ligament injury but new signing David Templeton is added to the squad. Louis Longridge has trained for the first time since he broke his foot in February. front foot against their rivals. He said: “It was credit to the boys and the gaffer’s tactics we took the game to them and it upset them a wee bit.”

It’s been a tough campaign for the Steelmen but Cadden has been one of the stars of the show. His form dipped over winter after a few knocks but he’s back firing for the run-in.

He added: “I struggled with injury a wee bit recently but I felt full of confidence at Ibrox. You can’t go through the whole season playing well every week. But every time I get out there I give 100 per cent.

“It’s not about me, it’s about getting three points for the team.”
