Belafonte wants Mel nanny to back him
Lorraine, 26, could be witness in bitter legal battle
THE nanny at the centre of Mel B’s divorce is set to be dragged into the legal battle as a witness against the pop star.
In explosive court documents, Mel claimed Stephen Belafonte was “abusive and violent” for years and got Lorraine Gilles pregnant in 2014.
Stephen, 41, denies any wrongdoing, indicating he will fight for maintenance and access to his daughter with Mel.
He is expected to call on German nanny Lorraine, 26, in a bid to back up his case and clear his name.
Her parents say she was unaware of any domestic abuse.
Lorraine’s dad Volker said: “She never saw any violence. She would not have stayed if she had.
“She looked after the kids, she was practically a part of the family. But nothing happened there that made her feel uncomfortable.”
Lorraine’s parents travelled three times to see her in LA during her seven years working for Spice Girls singer Mel. Volker, 55, said: “We spent a great deal of time with the family while she looked after the kids.
“We went to the beach with Mel B and Stephen – everything was harmonious on both sides.”
He described movie producer Stephen as “one of the nicest people you could wish to meet”.
Company director Volker revealed Stephen and Mel also spent time at Lorraine’s family home in Ascheberg.
The dad of two said: “They came to visit us in Germany. We had great fun together. That is why this has all come as such a shock to us.”
Lorraine’s mum Angelika described Stephen and Mel as “nice people”.
She said her daughter is “100 per cent reliable and very hard working”, adding: “It is hard to believe this has gone so wrong.”
Lorraine’s gran Ingrid, 74, said Mel and Stephen booked a hotel in nearby Munster for the visit in 2012 but spent most of their time at the family home.
Amid reports of a gagging order, Lorraine has declined to comment.
The nanny, who also did some modelling in her time working for Mel in LA from 2010 to 2016, married a US businessman last year and now works at a restaurant.
Former X Factor star Mel, 41, has a restraining order on her estranged husband until an LA court hearing on April 24. She says he forced her to have threesomes with Hollywood stars during their 10-year marriage.
Stephen’s ex Nicole Contreras, 41, who says she still carries the scars of an assault he was convicted of, could be a key witness for Mel in court.
