WE’VE BEEN PUSHED TO OUR LIMITS

MISSING CORRIE’S MUM

- SARAH VESTY s.vesty@dailyrecord.co.uk

THE mother of missing Corrie McKeague has told of the agony her family are going through as they wait for police to find his body.

Nicola Urquhart told friends online: “We’ve been pushed close to our limits, waiting for the phone to ring.

“We will get through this though. The kindness and support in every private or public message is still overwhelming, but honestly it’s never been appreciated more.”

Nicola, from Dunfermline, also released a new photo of RAF gunner Corrie, 23, taken on a training exercise. She recalled how he called her from the exercise in France to say he had spent the night in the open and was exhausted. But then he phoned next day after finishing the task and told her: “This was the best job in the world.” Nicola added: “I could hear the pride in his voice.” Corrie vanished last September after a night out in Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk, a few miles from his base.

Police believe he ended up in the back of a bin lorry which dumped its load on a huge landfill site in Cambridgeshire.

Officers have been searching the site since March 6. They say they have “a great deal of confidence” that Corrie will be found there.

The fact the truck’s load was heavier than expected convinced police Corrie was inside.

They thought at first that the load weighed 11kg but then found a data error. The load actually weighed more than 100kg,
