UTTER WASTE OF ART SPACE

- FINDLAY MAIR reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

A LEADING art museum is hosting a bizarre new show – with no exhibits.

The exhibition by Dutch artist Marlie Mul will leave a massive gallery space at Glasgow Museum of Modern Art empty for months on end.

The only items on display at the exhibition, called This Exhibition Has Been Cancelled, are signs – declaring it to have been cancelled.

Museum bosses say it is meant to make the public question how relevant a new art exhibition is in modern society.

Curator Will Cooper said: “Perhaps GoMA and, by extension, other museums and galleries would be better placed as a space for another kind of activity?

“The public have been invited to respond and suggest ways that we might use the space.

“We’re excited by the different types of activities that might be on offer.” Mul is a Dutch artist who lives in Berlin. Museum bosses declined to disclose how much has been paid to her for the exibition.
