THOUSANDS of Scots took to the beach and queued for ice cream yesterday as that strange yellow thing appeared in the sky again, pushing temperatur­es into the 80s.

Sunseekers made the most of the glorious weather on what for large parts of the country was a holiday weekend.

Yesterday saw Scotland record Britain’s top temperatur­e for the second day in succession, with the lucky people of Lossiemout­h, Moray, basking in 85F (29.2C). But don’t get too used to this Mediterran­ean-style weather because, typically, rain is on the horizon.

The Met Ofice have issued a yellow warning for wet weather for the whole of the UK.
