UTD’S ANDY WINDFALL
HULL have sanctioned Andy Robertson’s move from the Tigers – opening the door to a £1million windfall for Dundee United.
The Scotland left-back has his pick of a host of Premiership clubs with Liverpool, Watford and Burnley all bidding for his services and any transfer will activate a 10 per cent sell-on fee for the Tannadice side.
Robertson has one year remaining on his deal and new boss Leonid Slutsky wants to cash in on one of his main assets in order to fund his rebuilding work at the KCOM Stadium after last season’s relegation into the Championship.
Robertson would prefer a switch to Liverpool
understands but Burnley boss Sean Dyche is a known admirer and was willing to pay £10m in January when a fee was agreed before a deal was pulled by boss Marco Silva.
Any bidding war for the former United defender would be encouraged by his old club and chairman Stephen Thompson who are set to hit the jackpot with reports suggesting a £12m package is being compiled to take the player to Anfield.
Meanwhile, United are understood to have agreed a deal with out-of-contract Hibs midfielder Fraser Fyvie.
The 24-year-old arrives as boss Ray McKinnon revealed he is targeting hungry players in the “prime” of their careers to help United secure the Championship.
He said: “Last year we had far too many players over the age of 30 and a lot of young players. We didn’t really have any players in their prime.
“The whole recruitment this year has been about identifying this age bracket, we want these players to come here, do well and be here for the next two or three years.”
