TAKE A VOYAGE OF CULINARY ADVENTURE

-

SCOTLAND can boast the best food and scenery in the world, and CalMac Ferries have found a way to combine both.

For many people, a holiday doesn’t begin until you board one of the iconic red-funnelled ferries that transport you to a tranquil West Coast island.

And now a series of CalMac journeys evoke an island getaway and allow travellers to indulge their escape fantasies, even for just a few hours, while enjoying the best of Scotland on a plate – with views that are out of this world.

The award winning on-board restaurants have wide ranging menus and more than half the ingredients are Scottish-sourced, including Barra-landed Haddock, smoked salmon from Argyll Smokery in Dunoon, burgers sourced from meat from around Argyll and the famous CalMac’n’Cheese, made using cheddar from Lockerbie.

The menu reinforces CalMac’s commitment to sustainable, local produce as well as introducing Scotland’s fresh larder to customers.

“We have worked hard to put together a menu which not only satisfies our hungry customers, but which is value for money and promotes good Scottish produce,” said Retail Operations Manager Kurt Hart. “Many of our suppliers are from the islands we serve – items like Stornoway black pudding, Arran ice cream and Barra-landed haddock – putting us, once more, at the heart of these rural communities.”
