Trump’s communications manager in expletive-laden rant about colleagues

THE White House was close to meltdown last night after Donald Trump’s new spin chief launched an astonishing foulmouthed rant at colleagues in a furious call to a reporter.

Anthony Scaramucci – who became the president’s communications director last week – also threatened to sack his entire staff if he was not told the source of a leak to The New Yorker magazine.

Insisting he had no interest in media attention, “The Mooch” made a swipe at Trump’s chief strategist – telling the reporter: “I’m not Steve Bannon.

“I’m not trying to suck my own c***. I’m not trying to build my own brand off the f ***** g strength of the president. I’m here to serve the country.”

He called chief of staff Reince Preibus a “f ***** g paranoid schizophrenic” and accused him of trying to “c*** block” his appointment to Trump’s top team.

Ex-Wall Street trader Scaramucci, 53, made his furious call to reporter Ryan Lizza after it was revealed Trump had dined with Fox News host Sean Hannity and news executive Bill Shine.

He raged: “You’re an American citizen, this is a major catastrophe for the American country. So I’m asking you as an American patriot to give me a sense of who leaked it.”

When Lizza refused to reveal the source of the story, Scaramucci told him: “I will eliminate everyone in the comms team and we’ll start over.”

He later added that he wanted to “f ***** g kill” all the leakers in a bid to get Trump’s agenda “back on track”.

When his rant was made public, Scaramucci vowed to tone down his speech in future. He said: “I sometimes use colourful language. I will refrain in this arena but not give up the passionate fight for [Donald Trump]’s agenda.”

He added: “I made a mistake in trusting a reporter. It won’t happen again.”

The president appointed him to the role over the head of former press secretary Sean Spicer, who had been covering the job on an interim basis.

Spicer, one of Priebus’s few allies in the West Wing, resigned in protest.

Scaramucci, who has been compared to a villain in “every 1980s film,” is the son of a construction worker from Long Island.

After graduating from Havard, he worked for Goldman Sachs before setting up his own investment firm Sky-Bridge Capital in 2005.

Like Trump, he is a self-publicist who has boosted his business profile through TV appearances and writing books.

But he was a surprise convert to the Trump cause having previously called the president “a hack politician” and a bigmouthed “bully.”

He says he has since apologised to Trump for the “15th time” for the comments.
