CHEERS TO TOP SPIRIT

- GARRY OWEN racing@dailyrecord.co.uk

SPIRIT OF VALOR (3.00) can land a cracking renewal of the Lennox Stakes on Day 1 of Glorious Goodwood.

The colt has thrived since being stepped back to seven furlongs by Aidan O’Brien and gave the classy Brametot a fright in the Jersey at Royal Ascot.

The three-year-old oozed class when landing a Curragh Group 2 next time and can improve past some high-class older rivals.

Team Ballydoyle can also take the Vintage Stakes with SEAHENGE (2.25). Another exciting son of Scat Daddy, the colt showed a terrific attitude to land a six-furlong maiden on his debut at Naas.

He will have learned plenty that day and there is much more to come over seven furlongs.

GARCIA (1.50) can claim the Matchbook Handicap for Richard Fahey. A useful miler, the gelding stayed on well for fifth in the 1m2f John Smith’s Cup at York and can build on that effort under Ryan Moore.

BIG ORANGE (3.35) can bag his third straight Goodwood Cup with the minimum of fuss.

Michael Bell’s superstar produced a trademark battling performance to beat Order Of Saint George in the Ascot Gold Cup and cannot be opposed.

Henry Candy’s VIBRANT CHORDS (4.45) has a decent record at Goodwood and is worth a punt in the Lingwood Handicap. SONNEOFPRESENTING (7.30) can land the Audi Handicap Chase on Perth’s Rock At The Races Night.

Tom George’s gelding easily completed a hat-trick at Worcester last month and remains open to plenty of improvement over fences.

NOVO DAWN (8.00) is the safest choice in a trappy handicap hurdle. Shane Crawford’s gelding put in his best effort under Rules when third at Cartmel last time and could go close down in trip.

DAVID JOHN (8.30) will take all the beating in the Perth Lodge Chase.

Tom Lacey’s gelding left his timber form behind when bolting up on his chasing bow at Worcester and is still unexposed over fences.

HIBOU (7.40) can give Scottish handler Iain Jardine a famous victory in the BMW Mile at Galway.

The four-year-old beat the useful Masham Star in a valuable Hamilton handicap and will relish the soft conditions.
