Turnbull: I’ll be the Jags’ new Lindsay
From Back Page so away from the pitch they’re doing their best. They’re also getting used to Rangers and how the city works.
“Naturally, if guys know each other or are from the same country then they will sit together at the same table and have a coffee.
“I still sit alongside Kenny Miller, Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt. But that doesn’t mean there’s a division – that’s just life.
“But in the last three games I’ve seen a real togetherness in the squad. The fans have recognised that and it’s up to us to keep that feelgood factor going. We can only do that by staying together.
“We don’t have any one great individual player who will win us a game at this stage but our most powerful weapon is our togetherness.
“We have cohesion and a good team spirit.
“It’s up to us to respond to bad defeats and move forward positively as a group. That might take a bit more time but we’ve definitely been encouraged by the last three games.
“We have a long way to go to get to where we feel we should be but we hope we’re going to start the league season strongly.” PARTICK THISTLE loan star Jordan Turnbull insists he can be Alan Archibald’s ready-made replacement for Liam Lindsay.
The Jags bolstered their backline with the signing of the central defender from Coventry on a season-long loan.
Firhill boss Alan Archibald has been seeking a replacement for Lindsay since the highlyrated youngster was sold to Barnsley in the summer.
Now 22-year-old Turnbull, who started his career in the youth academies of Swindon and Southampton, has signed up for the season and vowed to prove himself ready to fill Lindsay’s boots.
Turnbull said: “Everyone has to prove their worth and do well in training to show the manager that they’re worthy of playing on a Saturday.
“So I’ll do my best to do that and hopefully I can take that spot on the left side of central defence. The club had a fantastic campaign last season and reaching the top six again will definitely be the aim.”
