Jambo will be Bjorn again in Holland
HEARTS have continued reshaping their squad by announcing the sale of Bjorn Johnsen to ADO Den Haag for an undisclosed fee.
The Gorgie club agreed a deal with Den Haag for the Norway internationalist after the 25-year-old was given permission to fly to Holland to undergo a medical and conclude personal terms.
Johnsen’s future at Hearts had been in doubt since he was involved in a bust-up with head coach Ian Cathro as they walked down the tunnel at half time during the May 17 defeat at St Johnstone. And
his outing against Celtic in the final game of the Premiership season was his last appearance for the club.
The 6ft 4in forward, who made his international debut against the Czech Republic in June, was omitted from the Jambos squad for the four matches in their ill-fated Betfred Cup campaign at the start of this season.
Johnsen moved to Hearts on a three-year contract from Bulgarian side Litex Lovech last summer and scored a total of seven goals in 37 appearances.
The marksman’s departure comes amid growing pressure on Cathro after Hearts finished third in their Betfred Cup group section following a shock loss to Peterhead and Saturday’s shoot-out defeat to Dunfermline.
Meanwhile, the Edinburgh club have been linked with a loan move for young Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman.
Cathro is keen to add a new shot-stopper after Jack Hamilton suffered a drop in form last term.
Woodman made 15 appearances in a temporary stint at Kilmarnock during the second half of last season before being named as the Under-20 World Cup’s best keeper after helping England win the tournament in June.
English League One sides Bury and Northampton are also said to be keen on signing the 20-year-old on loan.
