Rot can’t set in
POLICE Scotland’s leadership shambles is causing shockwaves that go well beyond the chief constable’s office.
And when rank-and-file officers start raising alarms, politicians should really start worrying.
The Scottish Police Federation say too many officers are so “scunnered” by their work conditions they can’t see the point of making complaints.
Just eight per cent of officers think the service is genuinely interested in their well-being.
A well-functioning national police service could be expected to struggle on while problems are fixed at that top.
But if the morale of hard-working officers on the front-line sinks too low, there’s a real problem.
Yesterday, the Justice Secretary attempted to pretend things are OK.
They’re not and he would be better admitting it before the rot really sets in.
