KANE AS EVER TO IMPRESS

- APOEL ............ 0 SPURS ............ 3 ADRIAN KAJUMBA

WHERE there is a Kane there is a way. That is how it feels with Spurs now.

Seven stars missing, a Champions League away day against opponents with a strong home record in Europe.

There were plenty of obstacles capable of tripping them up in Cyprus last night. But it didn’t matter.

They have a player in the shape and form of his life in Harry Kane.

That is what he did last night with a perfect hat-trick to make it a perfect start to their Group H campaign.

In August 2014 a little-known Kane came to Cyprus and scored just his sixth goal for Spurs, the winner in a 2-1 win at AEL Limassol.

Last night Kane returned to the country as one of Europe’s most feared marksman and opened the scoring with his 106th for the club.

After goals 107 and 108 followed, Kane now has seven in five Champions League games and 11 in just seven games for club and country this month.

Kane said: “It is a very proud night for myself and the team. I try to score every game. It is a bonus when I get three.”

Son Heung-min spurned two chances to grab an early goal.

On the rare occasions they did break, APOEL posed Spurs problems with Igor De Camargo rattling the bar.

But the home side were hit by a sucker punch in 39 minutes when Kane latched on to Toby Alderweireld’s pass just and fired a left-footed finish past Boy Waterman.

Kane took over after the break, burying Moussa Sissoko’s cut back in the 67th minute before heading in Kieran Trippier’s cross to complete a classy treble.
