Ancelotti: We have to be at our best

-

CARLO ANCELOTTI admits his Bayern Munich side need to deliver a “complete performance” if he’s to savour victory on his return to old club PSG.

The Italian spent 18 months at the Allianz Arena and led them to the French title in 2013 before leaving for Real Madrid.

The Paris giants have spent millions since his departure to assemble one of Europe’s most fearsome forward lines in the shape of Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG started their Group B campaign by demolishing Celtic 5-0 at Parkhead so Ancelotti knows Bayern need to be on top form to return to Germany with even a point tonight.

He said: “You have to attack and defend well to win here. It has to be the complete performance.”

Bayern began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Anderlecht at home and Ancelotti is targeting another victory.

He said: “It’s a game of prestige. We want to win and top the group.”

Defender Mats Hummels will have to try to keep the world’s most expensive strike-force at bay.

And the German admits he faces one of the hardest nights of his career.

Hummels said: “Playing in Paris is definitely one of the five hardest games in Europe and probably the world right now.”

Neymar sat out the 0-0 draw with Montpellier last weekend with a minor foot injury but is back to spearhead PSG’s attack.

The Brazilian was involved in a row with team-mate Cavani over who would take a spot kick against Lyon.

However, boss Unai Emery insists there will be no repeat if his side win a penalty against Bayern tonight. He said: “I spoke with each of them and they know how things will happen.”
