One’s fingers aren’t green, says Queen
THE Queen yesterday admitted she doesn’t have green fingers – as she gave a tribute to long-running radio show Gardeners’ Question Time.
In a message to mark the show’s 70th anniversary, the monarch said: “I’m not any sort of expert on gardening but plants, trees and flowers have been a source of pleasure throughout my life.”
The special edition programme featured an item on the gardens of royal residence Frogmore House in Windsor.
The Queen sent the show her congratulations and added: “I have an early memory of my mother being a hands-on gardener – a tradition which has been followed by other members of my family.
“I know this passion is shared by your listeners, and many other people besides.”
