Tories make the SNP look good

LOGIC dictates that Nicola Sturgeon should get a hard time from SNP activists when their party conference gets under way tomorrow.

-

Normally, a political leader who loses more than a third of her MPs at an election will have some tough questions to answer.

But the ludicrous chaos currently unfolding in Downing Street makes Sturgeon look brilliant by comparison.

Britain has never been so poorly served by its politicians at a time of national crisis.

Brexit is the gravest post-war challenge the country has faced, yet those responsible for delivering it do nothing but squabble with each other like children.

The latest Tory coup attempt is just further proof of what a bunch of useless wasters they really are.

Are we honestly meant to believe it took a conference coughing fit for the plotters to realise Theresa May wasn’t up to the job?

That’s been obvious from the minute she walked in the door of Downing Street.

Even the most blinkered Tory should have cottoned on after she crashed and burned at the snap election.

But if May was replaced as PM, would we get anyone better placed to do a deal with the European Union?

It’s doubtful. None of her potential successors – particularly that offensive oaf Boris Johnson – seem up to the job.

And the Tory backbenchers leading the coup are so inept thay they can’t even bring down a leader as weak as May.

Nobody gains from this shambles. Not voters worried about their children’s future. Nor businesses desperately needing clarity on Brexit. Nor EU migrants terrified they’ll be kicked out of the country.

So while Sturgeon may be relieved the Tory car-crash will deflect criticism of her, she will also be rightly concerned about what it means for the country’s future.

All of Britain will owe her thanks if she uses this party conference to come up with some good answers on Brexit.
