‘Lessons must be learned’
THE family of a man found dead in his van three days after police were alerted have spoken out after an official report slammed Poilce Scotland.
David Penman, 46, was discovered slumped in the driver’s seat, having died from carbon monoxide poisoning, on a country road in Dunipace, near Falkirk, on December 15 last year. There were no suspicious circumstances.
A police watchdog investigation found it took three separate calls to a control room on three separate days before officers attended and made the discovery.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner found inconsistencies in how the force’s area control room at Bilston Glen dealt with the reports and said lessons must be learned.
