I’ll stand by my man

- MARK JEFFERIES reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk

HARVEY Weinstein’s British wife is standing by him despite sexual harassment allegations against him going back decades.

The Hollywood mogul said he had to “prove I’m worthy” to Georgina Chapman – and she will be “kicking my a**” to be a better person.

Weinstein, 65, said he has had “really tough conversations” with designer and actress Chapman, 41, over his behaviour.

He said: “I own my mistakes” – and that included frank talks with her and his five children, aged between four and 22. Weinstein added: “This is going to be a lonely journey but my wife and kids couldn’t be stronger and couldn’t be standing behind me more.”

The Oscar-winning founder of film company Miramax and The Weinstein Company

was accused in a bombshell New York Times report on Thursday of misconduct going back 30 years.

The newspaper said he had reached at least eight settlements with women – including one who said she was coerced into giving him a massage while he was naked.

Weinstein is said to have asked a young Ashley Judd to watch him shower and paid Rose McGowan $100,000 under a settlement for an incident shortly before her breakthrough role in Scream.

Weinstein said he has spent the last year taking counsel on gender power roles from Lisa Bloom, a US attorney who has represented sexual assault victims in cases like Bill Cosby’s trial.

His lawyers are preparing a defamation suit against the paper and Weinstein said their reporting was “sloppy” and “disingenuous”.
