Comet will light up sky

STARGAZERS could get the chance to enjoy a spectacle with a meteor shower expected this weekend.

The Draconid meteor shower, also known as the Giacobinids, is one of two celestial events that bring shooting stars to the skies in October.

The streaks spawn from the comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner.

Over the weekend, the Earth will pass through debris left in the comet’s wake, leading to meteors which appear as bright shooting stars when they burn up in the atmosphere.
