PEDRO’S SCORED ANOTHER OWN MOLE

GERS BOSS DIGS UP SAINTS OVER SPY IN CAMP

PEDRO CAIXINHA has sensationally accused an Ibrox insider of doing the dirty and leaking his starting line-up to St Johnstone last season.

The Rangers boss insists there was a double agent working within his squad to feed vital information to the Perth club.

Caixinha went as far as to say Saints boss Tommy Wright even moved his training schedule on the

eve of the meeting of the two clubs on the final day of last season.

The Portuguese boss said Wright pushed his session back in the wake of being tipped off about his line-up after the Gers manager had put his players through their paces.

Rangers won the match 2-1 and are preparing for a McDiarmid Park return tomorrow where victory would move them to within three points of joint-leaders Celtic and Aberdeen who are in action 24 hours later.

Caixinha’s astonishing claim came in response to St Johnstone striker Steven MacLean urging him to focus on finding leaks in the dressing room.

MacLean and his Perth team-mates were unhappy at Caixinha comparing the Saints to Morton after the Ibrox side’s friendly during the international break.

The Rangers boss spoke about the comments from MacLean and reckons the frontman could be frustrated at no longer being able to work on inside information.

Caixinha admitted last month he was aware of a mole in his club, just days before Kenny Miller – whom he insists will be part of his plans for Perth if he recovers from a slight knock – was left out of the first-team squad.

Asked about MacLean he said: “His problem is that he refers to leaks and for me to be more aware about the leaks, right?

“Do you know why he refers to that? I am going to tell you in the first person and maybe that is his concern.

“Last season when we went to St Johnstone it was the last match, remember? I never changed my schedule, I never changed my programmes and I don’t have any connection with the other clubs.

“So we train all the time at 10 o’clock. Last season we train at 10 o’clock the day before the match. Normally in that day sometimes we might know the first 11. How we are going to start.

“Do you know what time St Johnstone trained that day? Afterwards. You know why? Because of the leaks, expecting to know our 11 to train after they know it.

“So maybe that is the concern now. Maybe they are not going to know it.”

Caixinha tried to explain his comparison between Saints and Morton and said: “When I spoke about similar teams I meant in terms of formation.

“Is it true or not true that Morton play 4-4-2? Is it true or not true that St Johnstone play 4-4-2? So we have one common point, right?

“Is it true or not they look for the strikers, they play more long balls and second waves and set-pieces and crosses? So we have two common points.

“So when I am saying that I never referred to level. Did I refer to level?

“No. I say formation and style of play is the same, so it is going to fit for us in the preparation. But his problem is not about that.”
