CHARITY drive Donate to Win are calling on businesses to get behind their £1-a-month prize scheme in aid of good causes.

The glam raffle, launched and run by David Hayman’s Spirit Aid and Alan Crossan of the Clutha Trust charity, includes “money can’t buy” prizes such as exclusive football jerseys and film and music memorabilia.

Donate to Win, which is being backed by the Daily Record, sees people paying £1 a month to be entered into the monthly draw.

Every penny raised goes to charities in Scotland.

Award-winning actor David has been delighted with the public’s response to the launch. He now hopes more businesses will sign up to the scheme, giving their workers the chance to win some amazing prizes.

He said: “We’re really pleased with how it’s all going and we have also had good support from businesses, who are buying entries for their employees.

“It’s a real win-win no-brainer for any company – you donate to a good cause to help others and your employees get the chance to win some amazing prizes, such as Rod Stewart’s guitar.”

Recruitment firm Aspirare are among the first companies to get behind the scheme.

Director Martin McCrum said: “This is for a great cause, and we are proud to be part of Donate to Win.

“We get to support some very worthy charities and our staff get the chance to win some fantastic items.

“The main thing for us is supporting the charities, because they do so much good work.”

Hayman has also teamed up with old pal Peter McDougall, the screenwriter of his acclaimed Jimmy Boyle drama A Sense of Freedom, to add signed movie posters to the prize pots.

Some of the good causes set to benefit include Epilepsy Scotland, Indepen-dance, Hansel, the Trossachs Search and Rescue Team, PEEK, RAP workshops in the Gorbals, Drumpark Coatbridge, COJAC, the Spirit Aid Christmas Toy Appeal, A&M Dance as well as local schools and youth clubs.

The first set of prizes include a signed Rod Stewart guitar, a signed Scotland top, a £50 Schuh voucher, a bottle of Bushmills whisky, a £50 meal for two at 29 in Glasgow, a bottle of Lanson champagne and a four-ball round of golf at Haggs Castle in Glasgow.

Ex-Scotland manager Craig Brown joined Celtic and Rangers legends Joe Miller and Alex Rae in supporting Donate to Win. He said: “This is such a great idea. I’ve always enjoyed working with David and Spirit Aid, and this is another great cause that I am proud to get behind.” Visit donatetowin. co.uk and check the Record for regular updates on the latest prizes available.
