THE heartbroken family of a schoolgirl who died in a road accident have told how the teen dreamed of being a doctor after battling back from leukaemia as a child.

Megan Scott was tragically knocked down and killed last week, just five years after beating the disease.

The 15-year-old’s mum told how the keen dancer vowed to use her experience to help others after she went into remission in 2012.

Fiona Lawlor said: “She never let her leukaemia define her… her positivity shone through.

“She survived and she wanted to help people. She wanted to be a doctor to help other children. She always used to say she would keep make-up in her doctor’s coat to make people look pretty and feel really good when they were unwell.

“Megan was my whole world, my heart just beats with her.

“We are just in shock. I’ve never felt so sick in my whole life. It’s heartbreaking.”

Megan, from East Kilbride, was part of a loving family and lived between the homes of Fiona, 35, and step-dad David Lawlor, 34, and dad David Scott, 40, and step-mum Valda Scott, 40.

She had five siblings – Ryan Styles, 18, James Scott, 13, Murphy Woods, 11, Layla Scott, three, and Xander Scott, two.

David fought back tears as he told how the family received the devastating news that Megan had been run over while crossing the Kingsway dual carriageway.

Medics battled to save her by the roadside but she died from her injuries shortly after the collision.

Inquiries into the accident are ongoing.

David added: “She was our beautiful daughter. She was a wonderful positive person who always put others first.

“I don’t think we will ever be able to recover from this.” A MAN was arrested yesterday after a blaze ripped through a house following an armed siege.

Officers cordoned off the home in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, yesterday morning. The blaze broke out after 2pm.

A police spokeswoman said: “A 36-year-old man is presently detained in connection with the incident.”
