Josh: We won’t be Meek and mild against Well hardmen

JOSH MEEKINGS has told Motherwell that Dundee are not scared of them – and are relishing the prospect of a battle on Tayside tonight.

The defender saw Stephen Robinson’s rugged side beat Rangers on Sunday and is now bracing himself for their league visit to Dens Park.

The 25-year-old, who is renowned for his own aggressive approach, has no issue with the Steelmen’s tactics and says he can’t wait to cut them down to size.

The Englishman said: “I thought Motherwell were very good on Sunday.

“They are a big, physical side and showed what they’re good at.

“But I believe we have enough in our dressing room to overcome that.

“I really don’t mind the physical side, it’s a big part of my game as well.

“They’re coming to Dens and we’re looking to make this a hard place to visit, a fortress if you like.

“They have a lot of physicality in their team so we’ll have to match that and try to outplay them on the football side of things.

“If you look at our dressing room there are enough boys in there who can look after themselves.

“We’ll hopefully take care of things on the night, I don’t really want to think about how they might be feeling after the semi-final.

“We’ve come out of a result at the weekend where we feel we should have got more from the game. We just want to look after ourselves and make sure we’re ready to go.

“Motherwell are coming here off the back off a good result so they’ll be positive with good vibes throughout their camp.”

Dundee are still smarting from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Partick Thistle at Firhill with Meekings desperate to make amends.

He added: “It was so frustrating. We dominated the game and had large amounts of possession as well as plenty of chances.

“But we were hit by a sucker punch with two sloppy goals at the end. You think to yourself how did we end up losing this game?

“That’s football I suppose so it’s nice to have a midweek game to look forward to and the chance to put things right.

“I always watch games back but this one I just wanted to see what happened and it was one of those where I was just frustrated, I really couldn’t believe it.

“I just wanted to see it and see if what I was thinking was actually true.

“I did feel like we were comfortable during the game but we’ve got to turn things round now.

“Hopefully it won’t happen again the way we lost two such soft goals late on.”
